10 Tracks by JJ Whitefield
Karl Hector & the Malcouns, the Whitefield Brothers, the Poets of Rhythm… If you’re into contemporary Afro music, fuzzy Funk or Kraut Jazz you probably heard of JJ Whitefield via one of his bands or one of his several album released under his own name.
Yes the man is really prolific, and after collaboration with famous labels like Ninja Tune, Now-Again, Jazzman or Daptone, after re-launching the career of Ghanaian afro funk legend Ebo Taylor and chasing African vinyls across the world, he has now reached a “five stars” credibility status among the analog underground music world.
Talking about vinyls, JJ has kindly accepted my invitation to gather a 10 Tracks playlist, he hand picked in his extensive collection. So if you’re curious about his current obsession and daily musical food, don’t go further! It’s full of rare and raw tracks but how could it have been otherwise knowing the curator…
And while you are here, don’t forget to check those exclusive playlists by Dj Nomad and Mop Mop, you might be surprised!
